22nd Annual Treasure Hunt

– Location: OSYC, Lake Sinclair, – Dates: 15-16 Sept 2012, – Time Skippers meeting 09:30, – Start time: 10:00. All members of OSYC and MGTS are invited. Bring your children, a GPS if you have one, a dinghy/kayak/canoe, and a swim suit. Even a small shovel might be handy. A 3/4G portable internet connection would also help to understand some of the clues. Treasure maps and a list of clues will be given out for each boat. It is a two day event although one day participation is possible. Just let me know if you can make only one day and I will make adjustments for that. There are only 17 prizes so be sure to plan to start with the fleet so you can get a treasure. It is a fun event and not a race. Everyone sails different directions to look for prizes, so fast boats have little advantage.

Labor Day Weekend at OSYC

This Saturday, 9/01, we have two events scheduled at the Club. The first event is the beginning of the Fall Races. Skippers meeting at 12:00, start time 1:00. Will anyone volunteer for Race Committee. No experience required, I will set up the course and teach you what to do, this is very simple. The 2nd event is a “Burn-it”. For those that do not know what a burn-it is, bring your own meat and cook it on the grill (hopefully not burning it) the club will supply the paper goods, ice and sides. Appetizers and dessert that are brought will be greatly appreciated. Happy hour starting at 4:30 or sooner, the grill and sides will be ready about 6:30. Jimmy is not going to be racing this weekend, giving us a chance to win. It would be nice to see some new racers on the course. I f you are a newbie and would like to give it a try, just let me know and I will be glad to meet you before the skippers meeting and go over the race procedure with you. Ken
